Residents of Boise, Ada County and most surrounding cities can
recycle Christmas trees curbside on their regular trash day from
January 2-6, 2012.
Trees must be set away from regular trash carts and cans, 100%
decoration free (no tinsel or any spray-on materials) and cut into
four-foot lengths. Trees will be collected on the regular trash
pick-up day.
The following are the dates for this year's program:
- Boise, Eagle, Ada County, Garden City - Curbside pickup from
January 2-6 on regular trash day.
- Republic Services Transfer Station - Located at 4485 S. Curtis
Road (685-7700), the transfer station will have separate drop off
boxes for city of Boise and Ada County residents until January 12
free of charge.
- Hidden Hollow Landfill - 10300 N. Seamans Gulch Road, free of
charge until January 14, 2011. There is no size limitation on trees
brought to landfill. (Landfill is closed New Years Day.)
Recycling Christmas trees saves landfill space, ultimately
saving taxpayers' money. Wood is chipped and used for landscaping
material, animal bedding and even to create energy. Last year Boise
residents diverted nearly 7,300 Christmas trees from going into the
landfill.
