Parties and Celebrations

Waste Reduction

Parties can fill trash and recycling carts with extra materials. Here are some simple ideas to help reduce your carbon footprint at your next party:

  • Skip the drink boxes or pouches. Use a pitcher and reusable cups.
  • Have a hands-on party! Serve foods that don't require utensils
  • Recycle cans, plastic bottles, cups, and cardboard snack/cookie boxes.
  • Consider gifts that are durable without a lot of packaging or gifts that create experiences and memories, such as:
    • Museum, WaterPark, or Zoo season passes
    • Restaurant gift cards
    • Homemade jams, jellies, breads, or cookies in a reusable tin
    • Home delivery of local produce
    • Homemade coupon (for dinner, carwash, babysitting)
    • Photos
