Commercial Recycling Dumpster and Cart

Did you know that 56% of Boise businesses recycle?

In 2017, about 7000 tons of recycled materials have been collected. That's an 11% increase from 2016! Whether you are a small office or a large business, we can help you get started in setting up a recycling program where you work.

Contact the City of Boise’s recycling team for a phone review of your business and how you can get the most out of recycling. Send an email or call 208-608-7136.

Tips for Success

  • Always have a trash receptacle next to a recycling bin. Lone recycling bins tend to pick up a lot of trash.

  • Designate an employee to be the recycling coordinator. They can be responsible for implementing these changes and periodically checking on the materials ending up in recycling bins.

  • After you implement these changes, check back periodically to make sure your recycling program is running smoothly.

BUSINESS RECYCLING

What has changed?

Due to significant shifts in international recycling markets, the City of Boise made the following changes to what is accepted in recycling carts and dumpsters:

  • For plastics, only bottles, jugs and jars that are marked with a #1 or #2 are accepted (examples: empty soda and juice bottles, milk jugs and detergent jugs).
  • For cardboard, metal containers, and paper (office/copier paper, newspapers, magazines and catalogs), continue to recycle these items (no change).
  • Leave recyclables loose; recyclables can no longer be bagged when placed in recycling carts or dumpsters.

Here's a list of who you need to reach out to, which messages to use, and some tools you can use. All commercial properties are different and not all of these guidelines will apply. Use what is right for your business.

Whether you have in-house custodians, a service contract, or do it yourself.
